SUZCARESFORLITTLES

I believe that educating and raising our children to be kind, compassionate, and wise is some of the most important work that we can do as human beings. My approach is largely based on the work of Maria Montessori, Magda Gerber, Janet Lansbury, Brene Brown, and Glennon Doyle; trusting the innate wisdom of the child, and serving as a guide as they explore their world. I believe that art, music, order, beauty, fun, laughter, integrity, space, quiet, and rest, are some of the most important values that we can share with each other and with our children. I take great pride in my work, and for me, it is truly an honor to be a part of children’s lives.

What We Do
I offer a loosely structured care environment in my North Asheville home where children are encouraged to explore and learn from and with each other. Books, art, and music are incorporated throughout the day, and we follow a familiar rhythm of play, outside time, shared meals, and rest. Visual schedules, sign language, modeling of skills, and promotion of independence are some of the ways that I support each child’s learning and development. I have a large fenced-in yard and an open and cultivated "yes space" play room. We walk to Weaver Park most days in a "Wonder Wagon".
I also have a very friendly dog and co-teacher, Warren.
